Need an Oklahoma Car Shipping Service?
Oooooooooo-Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweeping down the plain: it's the only state with a musical named after it. Oklahoma! It is officially headquartered in Sand Springs, at an outdoor amphitheater called "Discoveryland!" although it has recently returned to Broadway lights. And while that song might be the first thing to spring into your head when somebody mentions the state, Oklahomans would like you to know there's a lot more going on in the Sooner State.
Between sources above ground and those below, Oklahoma produces quite a bit of energy and the jobs that come with it. Devon Energy Corporation, Chesapeake Energy Corporation, and SandRidge Energy Corporation are the largest private oil-related companies globally, and all are based in Oklahoma City. The state has the second-greatest number of drilling rigs and is the nation's third-largest natural gas producer.
Most states are happy to be home to one big state fair, but Oklahoma gets two. The State Fair of Oklahoma and the Tulsa State Fair are massive events! Each fair spans ten days and attracts over one million visitors annually!
Now that you know Oklahoma is a diverse state, trust Number 1 Auto Transport for secure and efficient car transportation, ensuring a smooth move to or from the Sooner State.

How to Ship a Car to Oklahoma?
The best way to answer the question of "How to ship my car to Oklahoma" is to show you how we operate our auto shipping business. We know car owners won't trust just any car shipping company to move their vehicle across states. They want experience and reputation. Here's how we do it:
- First, once your order is placed, we'll start the process of moving a car to Oklahoma. This usually happens within a week. We'll continue updating you on important information, including the time and date of pickup, tracking number, and the truck driver's number.
- Then, the truck driver will call you to finalize delivery plans. The drivers in our carrier network strive to take care of all vehicles carried as if they are their own. Protecting your car against any damage from delivery is their ultimate concern. You'll also sign and receive a Bill of Lading before the driver leaves.
- Finally, once the vehicle arrives in Oklahoma, you and the driver will inspect the vehicle for any damage. This is also the time when you will sign the final inspection report. It's that simple!

Oversized Transport with Lowboy and Step Deck Carriers in Oklahoma
As with any developing region with centralized populations, Oklahoma demands that construction crews travel. With Oklahoma City being dead center in the state, the trip from there to outlying cities such as Lawton, Enid, and Cheyenne isn't easy when you've got a track harvester, front shovel, or cherry picker to move. Crews must keep their skilled hands working instead of pulling them away from their specialties to move equipment. That's why construction teams across the Sooner State rely on Oklahoma heavy equipment transport experts to make sure they stay on schedule, and everything gets to the next site safely. This is why they turn to the equipment transport teams at Number 1 Auto Transport and the lowboy carriers in our network.
Transporting heavy construction equipment is a serious business. The veteran lowboy carrier drivers in our network are trained to handle oversized loads and high gross tonnage. They are skilled in moving heavy equipment in and out of job sites and navigating busy highways with unique loads.
What Moves on Lowboy and Step Deck Trailers
- Track harvesters, front shovels, and cherry pickers
- Excavators, dozers, and backhoes
- Cranes, lifts, and aerial booms
- Skid steers and compact track loaders
- Combines, tractors, and farm implements
- Industrial generators and pumps
Why Lowboy and RGN Transport Works for Oklahoma
Height Compliance
Lowboy decks sit 18 to 24 inches off the ground. Tall machinery clears bridges and overpasses on I-35, I-40, and I-44.
Stability and Capacity
Step deck and lowboy trailers carry the weight of full-size dozers, cranes, and combines without straining the suspension.
Permit and Escort Expertise
Carriers in our network handle ODOT size and weight permits, daylight-only travel for oversize loads, and the rush hour limits on interstates in Oklahoma, Cleveland, and Tulsa counties.
Equipment that does not fit on a step deck moves on a Removable Gooseneck (RGN) trailer. The front detaches so tracked machinery rolls on without ramps. Best for excavators, dozers, and equipment without functional drive systems.
Need an Oklahoma heavy haul quote? Send equipment specs and route. We come back with a price-locked rate.
Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport in Oklahoma
Most Oklahoma customers ship on open auto transport. About 85 percent of US shipments move this way. Enclosed auto transport is the right pick for classics, exotics, and any vehicle valued at $75,000 or more.
Side-by-Side Comparison
| Feature | Open | Enclosed |
|---|---|---|
| Share of US shipments | About 85% | About 15% |
| Vehicles per load | 8 to 10 | 2 to 6 |

Enclosed Transport in Oklahoma
Enclosed Car Shipping to Oklahoma The safest way to transport your car to Oklahoma is within an enclosed auto transport. There are two options for shipping your car via enclosed auto transport: Soft-Sided Enclosed Auto Transport: The heavy canvas covering the carriers protects your car from wind-blown debris, rain, sleet, snow, and other elements. Hard-Sided Enclosed Auto Transport: In addition to the advantages of soft-sided carriers, hard-sided carriers offer protection for your car in the unlikely event your car is exposed to possible damage during transportation.
Oklahoma weather note. Of course, when you have such a threat of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes, you have to worry about your vehicle's condition at home or in transit. Tornadoes can pick up and toss vehicles, and even small tornadoes can turn everyday objects into projectiles that can pierce metal and shatter windows. Working with an auto transport team that knows how to protect your vehicle from these adverse conditions is crucial. When you opt to send your vehicle via enclosed auto transport when looking for car transport in Oklahoma, you'll avoid damage from wind-blown debris, damaging storms, sub-zero temperatures, and more.
Not sure which one fits? Tell us the year, make, and model and we will say so straight.
Should You Drive or Ship Your Car to or from Oklahoma?
No route guide covers an Oklahoma lane yet, so we do not publish a driving cost for one. Here is how the two options compare on everything except the price.
Driving vs. Shipping, Side by Side
| Factor | Driving yourself | Shipping your car |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Fuel, lodging, meals, tolls, and wear, paid as you go | One quote, locked at booking |
| Miles on the odometer | Every mile of the trip, plus any detours | Zero miles added |
| Days | Your own days behind the wheel, then a trip back | 2 to 3 days under 1,000 miles and 7 to 10 days from 1,750 to 2,500 miles, none of it yours |
| Risk | Tornado warnings, ice storms, snow on I-35 and I-40, flooded roads, and fatigue | Covered by the carrier's cargo insurance |
| Effort | Route planning, hotels, winter road reports, and a flight home | Picked up and delivered for you |
The transit windows are the ones this page has always published. Your quote supplies the shipping price, so the table leaves dollar figures out.
The bottom line. Driving makes sense on a short run, the way our FAQ below says. For a long haul, a winter move, or a car you want kept off the road, shipping gives you the days back and keeps the miles off the car.

Moving to Oklahoma: What to Do After Your Car Arrives
Most people shipping into Oklahoma are relocating or reporting to Fort Sill, Tinker, Altus, or Vance. Oklahoma gives you 30 days, and the tax rule turns on 60. Here is what actually applies.
New Oklahoma residents have 30 days after establishing residency to transfer an out-of-state vehicle registration. No excise tax is due on a car you owned and registered in your old state for at least 60 days. Oklahoma requires a VIN inspection, but no emissions test. Miss the 30 days and penalties start at $1 a day, up to $100 a year.
No Excise Tax on a Car You Have Owned 60 Days
Oklahoma levies an excise tax on vehicles registered here unless an exemption applies. A car you bring from your old state is exempt if you owned and registered it there for at least 60 days before it has to be registered in Oklahoma. Nonresident service members stationed here can register a car already registered in another state with no excise tax, and the 60 days do not apply to them.
Bought the car recently in another state? Bring proof of the sales tax you paid there. Service Oklahoma says you may be able to claim a credit for it. Active-duty service members stationed in Oklahoma can also keep their home-state registration and skip the transfer.
VIN Inspection, No Safety or Emissions Test
Every car coming from another state is inspected before Oklahoma issues a title. The VIN and odometer reading are checked against your out-of-state papers. Most licensed operators, the old tag agencies, can do it, and so can a law enforcement office in Oklahoma. The fee is $4.
Registering before the car arrives? The title goes on hold until the inspection is done. Oklahoma repealed its mandatory vehicle inspections in 2001, and it does not require emissions testing to register a car.
Insurance and License
Oklahoma requires liability coverage of at least $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident for bodily injury, and $25,000 for property damage. These limits apply to policies issued or renewed since April 1, 2005, when they rose from $10,000, $20,000, and $10,000. Bring proof of Oklahoma insurance when you register.
New residents need an Oklahoma driver license. Service Oklahoma publishes no deadline in days. If your old license is valid, or expired no more than 6 months, you skip the written and driving tests. Bring proof of identity, proof of Oklahoma residency, and your old license. A four-year license costs $42.50, and an eight-year license costs $81.
Take the out-of-state title, Form 701-6, your driver license, proof of Oklahoma insurance, and the car itself to Service Oklahoma on N. Classen in Oklahoma City or to any licensed operator. Fees: $11 for the title and $4 for the VIN inspection, plus yearly registration of $96 for a car in its first 4 years, stepping down to $26 from the 17th year. Check current fees with Service Oklahoma before you go.
Oklahoma Seasonal Shipping Guide

Snowbird Runs to Florida, Texas, and Arizona
Our Florida page puts snowbird season at October to April. Cars head south from October through December and come back north in March and April. Our Texas page shows the same pattern, and our Arizona page has winter residents arriving in October and November and heading home in April and May. All three lanes are on this page's tables, so book early in those months. See our snowbird auto transport page for booking lead times and price locking.
PCS Season and Winter
PCS season runs May to August. Book 3 to 4 weeks out for a move to or from Fort Sill, Tinker, Altus, Vance, or a Guard base. In winter, ice, sleet, and snow can shift fast. ODOT crews work around the clock, but a rural pickup can wait a day.
| Window | Demand | What drives it | Booking lead time |
|---|---|---|---|
| October to December | Snowbirds head south | Florida's snowbird season opens, and snowbirds head south to Texas and Arizona | 2 to 4 weeks on Florida lanes, 3 to 4 on Texas and Arizona lanes |
| January to February | Base | Snowbirds stay south. Ice and snow set the pace in Oklahoma | 2 to 3 weeks, as our FAQ advises |
| March to April | Snowbirds head home | Cars come back north from Florida and Texas. Arizona's return runs April to May | 2 to 4 weeks on Florida lanes, 3 on Texas lanes, 3 to 4 on Arizona lanes |
| May to August | Peak (PCS season) | PCS orders to and from Fort Sill, Tinker, Altus, Vance, and the Guard bases | 3 to 4 weeks |
| September | Base | The quiet month before the fall run. Our Florida page names it a low-rate month | 2 to 3 weeks |
Oklahoma has no route guide, and this page publishes no seasonal figure beyond the 2 to 3 week booking advice in its FAQ. The snowbird windows and lead times come from our Florida auto transport page (October to April, 2 to 4 weeks), our Texas auto transport page (south from October to December, north in March and April), and our Arizona auto transport page (in during October and November, home in April and May), whose lanes appear on this page's tables. None of the three names Oklahoma on its snowbird list. The PCS window and its lead time also come from the Texas page. We publish no seasonal premium for Oklahoma, so your quote carries the real number.

Oklahoma Weather Factors
Tornado Season
Oklahoma averages about 59 tornadoes a year, and May is the busiest month, with about 24 on average. The state set its record in 2024 with 152. A warning on the route holds a truck until the storm passes.
Ice Storms
Winter weather here can shift fast between ice, sleet, and snow. The December 2007 ice storm caused the worst power outage in Oklahoma history, along the corridor from near Lawton to Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Ice can hold a pickup or delivery a day or more.
Snow and Ice on I-35 and I-40
In January 2026, I-35 and I-40 were snow packed from state line to state line. ODOT keeps more than 30,000 lane miles of state roads, and crews can work for days as roads refreeze. Bridges and overpasses get slick first.
Flooded Roads
Heavy rain can wash out a road bed under the water, and a foot of water will float many vehicles. Carriers do not drive into water over the road, so a flooded route can move a delivery to a dry meetpoint.
Storm Response Plan
Monitor
We track tornado watches, ice storm warnings, and flood warnings several days out and flag any Oklahoma shipment in the path.
Communicate
Your dedicated agent calls 24 to 48 hours before the affected pickup or delivery window.
Hold, Reroute, or Refund
No penalty for weather-driven changes. We reroute, delay, or refund based on your call.
Booking lead time during peak Oklahoma windows: 3 to 4 weeks from May to August on PCS orders. 2 to 4 weeks for the snowbird runs from October to December and from March to May. 2 to 3 weeks the rest of the year, as our FAQ advises.

Additionally, we facilitate secure electronic transfers through established platforms (Zelle, Venmo, Cashapp, Paypal) as well as ACH and wire transfers. For alternative payment preferences, certified and bank checks are also accepted.
What documents do I need to provide to ship my car?
You do not need to provide any documents to ship your car. However, it is recommended to sign a Bill of Lading before the carrier leaves.
What happens upon pick-up and delivery of my car?
The transport carrier will conduct a thorough inspection with you at the predetermined pickup location, noting any existing dents or scratches. The same inspection will be done upon delivery.
How far in advance do I need to schedule my Oklahoma car shipping service?
To ensure we can fulfill your preferred delivery timeframe, scheduling your car shipment with ample lead time is highly recommended. Ideally, booking your transport at least 2 to 3 weeks in advance allows for optimal planning and execution.
Do I have to register my car in Oklahoma after it arrives?
Yes, if you are moving here. You have 30 days after establishing residency to transfer the registration. No excise tax is due on a car you owned and registered in your old state for at least 60 days. Oklahoma requires a VIN inspection at a licensed operator or a law enforcement office, but no safety inspection and no emissions test. Active-duty service members stationed here may keep their home-state registration.
